FISHING BENEFIT RULES AND
REGULATIONS


BENEFIT OBJECTIVE: All fish caught and donated during the benefit will be given to The Salvation Army. All
canned goods will be donated to the local Emporia food bank. Proceeds from entry fees will benefit the Beau
Arndt “Love of the Outdoors” Scholarship at Emporia State University, as well as other charities of our choice.
PARTICIPATION AND ELIGIBILITY: Participation is open to anyone 18 years or older. Minors are eligible to
participate with a parent or legal guardian signature on the entry/waiver form. A completed entry form/waiver,
and all entry fees must be received before you are eligible to enter the benefit.
ENTRY FEES/PAYBACK: $60 per team or $50 with 10 canned goods. 1ST place $500, 2nd place $400, 3rd
place $300. These amounts are based on the number of teams entered.
TEAMS: Teams consist of 2 anglers. You may fish solo, however you still must pay the $60 entry fee. All
members of a team must be registered to compete.
REGISTRATION: 6:00pm – 10:00pm Friday, June 5th at Mamie’s Cabin in Eisenhower State Park
6:00pm – 8:00pm Friday, June 5th at Bluestem Farm and Ranch in Emporia, Kansas.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS AND FISHING TIME: First cast may not be made before 6:00 pm Friday, June 5th. All
fisherman must be properly licensed and all fish must be in accordance with all Federal, Kansas state, and
Wildlife and Parks laws and guidelines.
FISHING LOCATIONS: You may fish any legal waters in the state of Kansas. This includes lakes, rivers and
ponds. Any legal means of fishing as written by state laws are accepted. Example: Trot lines, limb lines
CHECK-IN INFORMATION: Check in will be at Mamie’s Cabin at Melvern Lake in the Eisenhower State Park.
Check in times will be Friday at Sunset until Midnight. Saturday 8am-10pm. Sunday 8:00am until 1:00pm.
Any fish being turned in after 1:00pm on Sunday will be deducted points as follows: For every tem minutes
late you will receive a 20 point deduction. After 30 minutes you will not be allowed to check-in your final catch.
You will be allowed to enter the park and check in fish for the benefit and not be charged a fee; however,
ramp fees and camping fees will be charged if used. Preparation of fish must be FRESH. NO RANCID FISH
ALLOWED!!! Fish can be dead, but they must be kept on ice or in working live wells.
SCORING: Fish will be based on length not weight, this is to give an equal scoring system between different
species. The benefit scoring system will be based on points per fish, limits per team and total team points.
Limits per team will coincide with possession limits for two people. Once a team has reached maximum
points per day/per species No more of that species may be checked in that day. DO NOT BRING ANY SHORT
FISH IN AS STATED BY OUR ORGANIZATON’S RULES AND KANSAS LAW. Teams can not exceed the daily
possession limit for any species, as written by state law- The only exception is White Bass because there is
no possession limit.
PROTESTS: Only participants and benefit directors have the right to file protest. Protests must be filed in
writing with a benefit director no later than 30 minutes of the final check in of benefit. Protests will be reviewed
by benefit directors and any teams found violating the rules will be immediately disqualified and the reasons
for disqualification and team names will be announced during the banquet.
SPORTSMANSHIP AND SAFETY: Safety will be the first consideration during the Hunt 4 Hunger 1st Annual
Multi-Species Benefit. Participants will conduct themselves in a true sportsman like manner. Courtesy, safety
and ethics of the best behavior are the norm not the exception. Remember yourself but also all benefit anglers
and the sport of fishing. Rude or insulting behavior will not be tolerated. Please remember this is a benefit
tournament to help provide assistance to those in need.
SPIRIT OF THE RULES: It is the intention of Hunt 4 Hunger to provide a honest, sportsman-like benefit. In the
interest of good sportsmanship, contestants are reminded that the spirit of the rule will prevail. All questions,
judgements or problems during the tournament will be referred the benefit directors. Benefit directors will have
sole authority and jurisdiction in determining the application of the Rules and Regulations. No cheating will be
allowed. If you get a ticket or are caught in an act of illegal activity DO NOT USE Hunt 4 Hunger as your
reasoning. We will not tolerate your irresponsible actions to destroy our organizations reputation. REMINDER:
THIS IS A CHARITY EVENT!!!
CANCELLATION POLICY: In the event of dangerous weather, cancellation of all or part of the event will be at the
discretion of the benefit directors. In case of cancellation, entry fees will be donated to the following charities:
The Beau Arndt “Love of the Outdoors” Scholarship at Emporia State University, the local Emporia Food Bank,
and The Salvation Army. There will be no make-up date.
MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION:
This benefit is unique in the fact that all fish are being donated to The Salvation Army to help feed the hungry.
There will be people there to help clean fish, HOWEVER YOUR EXTRA HELP WOULD BE GREATLY
APPRECIATED.
There will be an Awards Banquet and Dinner on Sunday after Check-In is complete at 3:00 pm. This will take
place at Ike’s shelter house in Eisenhower State Park.
As the goal of the benefit is to donate as much fish and canned goods as we can to The Salvation Army and
local food bank, previously caught fish will be gladly accepted as well as extra canned goods
